Inge-glas ® of Germany - Fruit & Vegetable Ornaments
These ornaments are considered to be the oldest style of glass ornaments produced. Since the earliest Christmas trees were adorned with natural fruits and nuts, it was inevitable that the glassblowers patterned many of their first molds after these reminders of abundant harvests. German Christmas Ornaments marked with The Star Crown" is your guarantee that the ornament is produced in a centuries old tradition in the family workshops of Inge-glas ® of Germany in Neustadt, near Coburg, Germany.

Legendary Pickle Ornament
Inge-glas of Germany

A pickle used as an ornament on the Christmas tree seems odd at first, but this is an old German-American tradition. When decorating the Christmas tree, it was a practice to hang the pickle ornament last, hidden among the twigs. The first child on Christmas Eve to find the Christmas pickle ornament would receive an extra gift. Made in Germany by Inge-glas ® 4-1/4 inches - 11,0 cm This is the largest of three pickle ornaments made by Inge- glas of Germany. We offer all three sizes as well as a Gift Box Set - 3 Pickle Ornaments. This allows you to change the size as your children grow - Obviously, the older the child, the smaller the pickle size making it more of a challenge to find!

Pineapple
Inge-glas Ornament

Farmer's Market
The first tree we decorate in our shop each year is typically our fruit and vegetable tree as we don't want to push Christmas but recognize that this is a "bountiful tree"...a "Kitchen tree" and just delightful. Pineapples have been associated with wealth and hospitality for centuries. In colonial times, pineapples were a symbol of wealth and status. They were expensive and difficult to obtain, so only the wealthy could afford to decorate their homes with them. Due to its association with warmth and friendliness, pineapples in America were often used as the "crowning" piece in large displays of food. The pineapple symbol was also used frequently in the 18th and 19th centuries to decorate bed posts, tablecloths, napkins, and anything associated with welcoming guests... Birgit Müller-Blech, designer for Inge-Glas® of Germany, brings new ornaments to life with creativity and design. Made in Neustadt, Bavaria by Inge-glas® Manufaktur, Neustadt, Germany 2018 Introduction - 2024 Addition 4-5/8 inches - 11,5 cm
