The history of Bavaria stretches from its earliest settlement and its formation as
a stem duchy in the 6th century through its inclusion in the Holy Roman Empire
to its status as an independent kingdom and finally, as a large and significant
Bundesland (state) of the modern Federal Republic of Germany. Munich is the
capital of Bavaria.
Bavarian tradition is important as are preserved old customs, foods, celebrations,
folk customs and traditional music - expressing their genuine love of their home
and country.
