For the Twenty-seventh year, The Frame Workshop will be honored to host a visit by family members of the respected German nutcracker maker, Holzkunst Christian Ulbricht, GmbH.
We welcome Gunther & Steffen Ulbricht, on their third visit since 2019. They will both be here to kick off our annual Christmas Open House. We are extremely honored as The Frame Workshop is only one of a handful of retail stops across the United States part of the 2025 Ulbricht U.S. tour.

This 2025 Natural classic nutcracker Forest King pictured above showcases the attention to detail that is found in every item produced in the Ulbricht workshops. This noble ruler watches over the forests of the Ore Mountains. The protection of the animals and nature is his mission. Fond of the fruits of the forest, he proudly wears an acorn as his crown.

Gunther and his son, Steffen represent the third and fourth generation of this well known family firm based in the village of Lauingen in Bavaria and Seiffen in the Erzgebirge of Saxony.
Both have achieved certification as Master Wood Turners in Germany and have inherited great creative ability Many of the most artistic of the nutcrackers produced today bear their designs. In his private time Gunther is a fine artist, painting both portraits and landscapes as well as being an avid hunter.

The tradition of an annual tour bird nutcracker continues in 2025 with a Pileated Woodpecker - a special cracking bird, is a limited edition nutcracker and measures 6-7/8 inches.
This unique "Cracking Bird" is available only through a select number of retail dealers in the United States that host a signing event during a personal appearance in 2025.

| The Pileated Woodpecker follows the Flamingo in 2024, the Osprey in 2023 and the Barn Owl in 2022 but it all began with "The Woodpecker" in 1997 (Replica of a 1933 nutcracker.)

To the left is pictured one of Ulbricht's 2025 limited edition nutcracker designs: The most beautiful toy locomotives come from this fellow's workshop. And with great dedication, he lovingly crafts true gems by hand, proudly holding his latest locomotive creation on his arm. A matching train car is already waiting on the tracks in front of him. This nutcracker really needs to be seen and touched to appreciate the care and craftsmanship that goes into each and every Ulbricht design.

| Gunther has toured the United States on numerous occasions, and will make another return appearance to The Frame Workshop in Appleton - joining us for our Open House event at our location at 430 E Northland Avenue - Memorial Square!
