A California native and the son of a career US
Army officer and English war bride, John graduated
from High School in Severna Park, Maryland.
It was Ripon College that brought John to Wisconsin.
After four years and a major in Psychology and Elem
Education, he elected not to go into teaching, but
rather to open and establish his own business. He
spent most of 1978 creating a business plan and
looking for the appropriate community in which to
open a new frame shop. On Sept 12th he opened
the doors to The Frame Workshop in Appleton.
Since 1981, John has taught for the Professional
Picture Framers Association and several trade
distributors. In 1987 he was hired as a technical
consultant to The Fletcher-Terry Company and
travels presenting seminars and training courses on
their behalf. His workshops on mat cutting & framing
are attended by other professional picture framers
around the world. He also works as a consultant to
Tru Vue, the largest manufacturer of specialty glass
in the picture framing industry today.
He has conducted professional educational programs to
the framing industry throughout North America and
Europe. He has also taught in Russia, Australia, New
Zealand, China, Japan and Brazil.
John's responsibilities at The Frame Workshop
include marketing and gift buying. He can usually be
found in the shop during the busy Christmas Season,
educating customers on German collectibles.
