We've assembled a collection of unique books in our shop - many are related to the artists that we've shown on our gallery walls over the past 46 years, in addition to books that provide just good reading - many published by Tristan Publishing, books with a message. Most recently we've added some fun books for our dog enthusiasts, and several by award winning Canadian artist, writer and creator of the Eric & Eloise series, Jessica Hiemstra. We also have a separate section for our diverse selection of Christmas Related books and another section for our Wisconsin - Images of America series.

Charley Harper:<br>An Illustrated Life

AMMO Books is honored to present this beautiful large format
title as the definitive monograph of artist Charley Harper's six
decade long career. Renowned New York based designer Todd Oldham
rediscovered Charley's work in 2001, and collaborated closely
with him, combing through his extensive archive to edit and
design this stunning AMMO Books release.

Charley Harper - An Illustrated Life, showcases his illustrations
that appeared from 1950-1975 in the Ford Times magazines, as well
as in books such as the beloved "The Giant Golden Book of
Biology" in 1961, "Betty Crocker's Dinner for Two" in 1961, and
"The Animal Kingdom" in 1968, among many others.

His well loved book "Birds and Words", first published in 1974,
is considered a classic. Remarkably, however, Charley's work has
never before been published in one complete retrospective.
Accordingly, this massive volume is the definitive Charley
Harper book to have on your bookshelf!

Harper Ever After
The Early Work

Essay by Sara Caswell-Pearce. Introduction and commentary by Brett Harper. Harper Ever After presents paintings and prints from both artists, from their early art school days until 1960, when Charley created Cardinal, now one of his best-known images. The artists command of a wide range of styles from realism to abstraction to cubismis not only impressive, it informs the path each took to arrive at their individual techniques. The subjects they chose to depict are just as diverse. Charleys World War II scenes, portraits, and cartoons created while serving in Europe as a private first class are especially poignant. Brett Harper provides a biographical introduction that follows his parents from art school to commercial and fine art success, and his commentary on specific artworks provides valuable insight. Art critic Sara Caswell-Pearces essay focuses on the development of the Harper's artistic prowess, while Chip Doyle, a family friend, tells his story of discovering long-lost early works. Harper Ever After presents great talent in its formative years. Longtime Harper fans and collectors will appreciate never-before- seen artwork and come away with a new appreciation of the Harpers mature work, post-1960.
