The shepherds in the fields were the first to see the angel's 
visit the night our Savior was born and are thus central 
figures in this Nativity, the Raffaello series by Dolfi.  All 
of the Dofi figures are carved in Urtijëi (also known 
as Ortisei or St. Ulrich) in South Tyrol, Italy.
