Father Frost is an originally Russian fairy tale character 
resembling Santa Claus, which comes from Slavic mythology 
and embodies the personification of winter.   Here is 
depicted holding a Russian Matryoshka "Nesting Doll". 

Father Frost gives presents to the children on New Year's 
Eve.  This custom is also widespread in other Eastern 
European countries.
