Josef Eidenberger Etchings
Born in the little town of Goisern, Austria, Josef Eidenberger's specialized
studies and love for subtle color led him to the complicated process of multiple
plate color etchings. Greatly influenced by the Austrian etch-craftman Luigi
Kasimir, Eidenberger improved his technique and is regarded today as the only
etcher who had been able to approximate the Kasimir technique.
Due to the increased worldwide demand for his etchings, coupled by his death
in 1991 at the age of 92, the value of his work has risen sharply as more and
more collectors have realized the brilliance of his extraordinary talent.
- Most of these images do not match the quality of the actual etching in either color or
detail. If you are familiar with the works of the artist you will understand the fine
quality of the works represented here. -

Kaub am Rhein - Germany by Josef Eidenberger
Kaub is a town in Germany, state Rhineland-
Palatinate, district Rhein-Lahn-Kreis. It
is located on the right bank of the Rhine,
approx. 50 km west from Wiesbaden. Kaub is
known for the castle Pfalz, or Burg
Pfalzgrafenstein, situated on a rock in the
middle of the Rhine. According to legend,
the Palatine countesses awaited their
confinement in the Pfalz, but in reality
the castle served as a toll-gate for
merchandise on the Rhine.
The restored castle Gutenfels sits on a
hill above the town. Both can be seen in

Eidenberger.
