FREDERICK AUGUSTUS I (1694-1733), called "Augustus the Strong"
ruled the sate of Saxony and Poland, and during his era was
responsible for encouraging the development of Dresden China
and introducing the Gregorian calendar.
Seiffen, and the Erzgebirge region lie within the state of
Saxony, in former East Germany near the Czech border.
