Hand carved from Linden wood (Bass), curl by curl, layer
by layer, this shaved wooden tree is created using a the
same method as first developed in the 1930's.
Spanbäum or Spanning trees are produced by a process in
which spikes of Basswood are transformed into small trees
of wood. They are known to fascinate with their unique
type of "curled paper" or rolled wood at their sides.
