Q. I have a signed Charles Harper silkscreen titled "Water Strider". My Grandmother purchased it in 1969 and the size is approximately 40" x 23" and is the 99/500 print. I would appreciate any information you might be able to give me regarding this print. Thank you.

A. Betsy,

Did you read the bio and details on Charley Harper's current serigraph release entitled Water Striders - Shadow Dancers?

Here it mentions his original release "Water Stiders - Jesus Bugs" which is what you have in your hands, and the value of this serigraph could be anywhere from $1,200-3,000 depending upon condition.

It is NOT a print - it is an original graphic - serigraph (silkscreen). The number within an edition has NO effect on the value of the artwork. The size of the edition, along with demand for the artist's work, the quality of the printing/paper, and current economic conditions all play a part.

If your image is framed this may lower the value - please write back to me Directly and I'll be glad to assist if you have further questions. We do purchase Harpers on the secondary market.

Regards,

I think this artist is deceased--I have tried to find out info. on him and more of his works and any values his prints have.
