Q. how do you clean the inside of your picture frames
08/02/11
A. Hi Ann,

When we are building custom frames, the interior is brushed out removing any loose dust and debris. The glass is cleaned using a non-ammonia based cleaner and the picture is fit.

If this is a very old frame, we may sometimes line the interior of the rabbet with a foil tape.

Any framed artwork should be opened and cleaned at least once every 10-15 years. Despite a dust cover on the backside, a ghosting layer of film will develop on the interior side of the glass over time.

Sincerely,

John Ranes II, CPF, GCF

Q. I have a Marine Corps cammie blouse that I need framed pretty much immediately when I come home from Okinawa, Japan on Jan 16th. Do I need to make an appointment to have this done? And about how much would that run me with frame included? It is a gift for my mom and I want it done before I have to come back over here. Please help me out with any information you can provide. I would need a frame that is about 22x28. I'm not for sure if that is exactly correct but it's close. I would appreciate any information you could provide me with!
