Q. Acid Free Matting.......Conservation....What's the difference?
03/17/01
A. A great deal - The term "Acid Free matting" is often used by some framers as well as consummers. It simply states a "condition" of a product, in this case matboard.

Many matboard products today are "Acid Free" but NOT of conservation quality, and therefore should NOT be used in a framing package of value. Visiting a competent professional framer typically assures that you're in good hands.

Look for a Certified Picture Framer when you require framing for anything of value.
