German Legends 
Within the home of a humble mother who had cleaned her home for 
Christmas Eve celebration, tiny spiders had been intrigued by 
the reflections from the Christmas tree.

Scurrying across every branch to inspect each ornament, the 
spiders left the tree shrouded in a dusty gray of spider webs 
by morning.  The Christkind arrived soon after the spiders 
left, blessed the tree with a light touch, turning the gray 
webs into shimmering, sparkling sliver & gold strands.

Ever since then, it is customary to include a spider among the 
decorations because a tree with a spider is blessed!
